When placing a left internal jugular broviac and are using a sheath to guide the broviac into the right SVC it is possible to underestimate the length at which to cut the broviac.

While assessing the tip position while the line is still in the straight sheath keep in mind that the eventual path of the broviac has two almost 90 degree curves which needs to be compensated for when determining at what length to cut it.
