Post procedure pain ranges from mild to moderately severe depending on the type of laser used and area of skin treated.
For small areas patients may describe a sensation akin to a small bruise and simple oral analgesia will usually be sufficient.
YAG laser treatment may result in moderately severe pain, and patients will benefit from local anaesthetic infiltration at the end of the treatment. If a large area is treated with YAG laser it will be difficult to cover this with local and intravenous opiates may be required.
