Decision rule described in 1998 to aid in identifying patients at low risk of cervical spine injury.
1. There is no posterior midline cervical tenderness
2. There is no evidence of intoxication
3. The patient is alert and oriented to person, place, time, and event
4. There is no focal neurological deficit (see focal neurological signs)
5. There are no painful distracting injuries (e.g., long bone fracture)
