Patient's are often undergoing a redo sternotomy as they may have had previous procedures performed (eg Tetralogy of Fallot repair). Take relevant precautions.

A swan sheath or central line will be required for inotrope infusions. A pulmonary artery catheter will encroach on the surgical field so cannot be inserted.
