The muscle paralysis can be continued with intermittent intravenous boluses, using about 25% of the initial dose. The total dose should not exceed 6-8 mg/kg, or recovery may be very slow.

Flush the suxamethonium after administration with propofol to help visually confirm passage of the suxamethonium into the patient and avoid leaving any in the line.

Bradycardia is frequently seen on repeated dosing with suxamethonium. This does not preclude its use in this manner as long as the patient is either pretreated with, or have available on hand, an anticholinergic such as atropine or glycopyrrolate.
