A pacing swan ganz catheter is inserted into the right ventricle prior to commencing the case. Overdrive pacing at a rate of ~150bpm may be performed at the time of balloon valvotomy for approximately 20 seconds to reduce ventricular pressure and prevent displacement of the balloon during inflation.
