Administering as a push can cause peroneal discomfort. Administer slowly with a warning to the awake patient of possible peroneal discomfort, or administer as a push to the anaesthetised patient.

Consider avoiding dexamethasone/steroids in patients with significant tumour bulk ( eg haematological malignancies such as ALL, Lymphoma ) that may be at risk of tumour lysis-syndrome. Discuss with the haematologist.
