For prolonged cases
10mcg/kg loading dose.
4mcg/kg/hr infusion.
Halve the infusion 45minutes before finishing
Stop the infusion 20minutes before finishing
Turn off volatile anaesthetic at a time appropriate for the chosen volatile, but continue ventilating (the patient will not breathe)

In doses >3mcg/kg, patients can manifest chest wall rigidity making ventilation difficult. If using these doses, ensure adequate muscle relaxation at the time of peak effect.
